Providers have the ability to save custom Directions to Pharmacist and Directions to Patients notes. These are useful in cases where a collaborating/supervising physician or directions are required, and eliminates the need to type those instructions for each prescription.
Go to DrFirst via any of the access points in ICANotes (Chart Room, Demographics, a prescribing progress note) and from the menu located at the top-left, click to go to Settings

Next go to User settings

In the Prescription section, locate the text boxes for “Custom additional directions to patient (one per line)” and “Custom pharmacist notes (one per line)”
More than one note can be added, so long as they are entered on separate lines. For example, adding a collaborating physician as a custom pharmacist note:
When finished, scroll down and click to Save
In the Prescribe Medication widget, click the + icon in Directions to Pharmacist or Patient Directions to apply the saved note
The note will populate
When finished, click to Review the prescription and send or save.
The custom note will be visible when reviewing the prescription
Note: To have a supervising physician added to your account so that it appears on all prescriptions (without having to add custom Directions to Pharmacist), please call Support at (443) 569-8778.
