Setting and managing a pharmacy is done within the Patient widget. This should be done before a medication is prescribed, but is not mandatory. If you opt to wait to enter the pharmacy you will receive a warning that you are able to override.

There are two areas where you can choose the pharmacy. First, when entering DrFirst for a new patient, click “Please set the default pharmacy” link located within the notice above the Patient widget:

Second, by clicking the spyglass/search icon, as indicated below:

In the Select Pharmacy widget, set your search criteria by selecting which list to search from, pharmacy type and options, and address. For best results if using Practice List or All Lists, use only the first three letters of the pharmacy and the first three digits of the zip code:

-Practice List contains only those pharmacies located within the first three digits of the practice’s zip code

-Favorites List contains only the pharmacies that the user has previously selected to be in their favorites list

-All Lists contain all available pharmacies in the Rcopia4 database (default option)

You’ll see a listing of pharmacies within the search criteria

Click anywhere within the row to add the pharmacy to the patient’s record.

Review the pharmacy “type” before making your selection. You can hover your mouse over any of the options to see a tooltip of what type of pharmacy the listing is.

[C] = the pharmacy accepts controlled substance prescriptions electronically

[E] = the pharmacy accepts electronic prescriptions

[R] = the pharmacy is a retail pharmacy

[MO] = the pharmacy is a mail order pharmacy

Once the pharmacy has been added to the patient, you’ll be routed back to the Patient Info screen

Up to five (5) pharmacies can be stored for a patient, which will be saved in the Pharmacy dropdown within the Patient Info widget

Once a pharmacy has been added two additional icons will be displayed next to the search icon: View Pharmacy Details and Remove Patient Pharmacy

View Pharmacy Details icon

When clicking on this icon you’ll see a popup window with the pharmacy details:

Remove Patient Pharmacy icon

This button is used to remove the pharmacy from the patient’s record.

Changing the Default Pharmacy

The default pharmacy can be changed by clicking into the pharmacy dropdown, then selecting the pharmacy to be made default. That’s it! A confirmation will show on top of the window showing the new default pharmacy name:
