If you prefer not to send the text message(s) to patients, there is a setting to control this feature. Please note, a user with administrative access (specific to DrFirst) will have the ability to see and make this change.
Enter DrFirst via any of the access points within ICANotes (Chart Room, patient Demographics, prescribing progress note) and from the top left menu, click to go to Settings
Go to Location settings
Scroll down to the Prescription section and locate the option “Enable Patient Notifications via SMS text”
Click in the dropdown field to change the setting from YES to NO. Save your changes.
In the Review Prescription window when prescribing, you will no longer see this option at the top right of the window:
Instead, the area will merely be grayed out
