Changing Text Messages to Put in a Message That Office is Closed

These instructions are for patients/clients who have scheduled appointments.

If you need to close your office due to inclement weather, sickness, or safety of the public follow these directions.

1. As a Portal Administrator, log into the Patient Portal Admin site. (See Setting up a Patient Portal Admin Knowledge Base Article.)

2. From the Patient Portal:

    a. Click on the Admin Tools button on the top right

    b. Click on the SMS Reminder Settings button

3. On SMS Reminder Settings area:

    a. Turn off Confirm/Cancel since the message is an alert, i.e., you do not expect the patient/client to arrive for the appointment

    b. Type in the message you want texted to your patient/client

    c. (optional) You may want to turn off the second reminder

    d. Click on the Preview Reminder button

4. You will see how the alert will look when sent to the patient/client.

5. After you close the preview reminder (by clicking on the x in the top right of the Preview Reminder window):

    a. Click on the Save Changes button

    b. You will see a confirmation toast in the bottom right of the browser window

6. Next, go back into ICANotes and re-save the appointment for the newly created text message to be received. 

Don't forget to fix your reminder settings once your office is reopened/status has changed.
