[Rcopia4] Rx Cancel – Electronic Cancellation of e-Prescribing Prescriptions

[Rcopia4] Rx Cancel – Electronic Cancellation of e-Prescribing Prescriptions

RxCancel allows a provider to send a request to a pharmacy to cancel a prescription that had been sent previously. It also lets the pharmacy respond to the request with an approval or denial and a note indicating how much of the original prescription that had already been filled. Any pharmacies that are enabled for RxCancel will receive these requests electronically, otherwise, the RxCancel request will be sent to the pharmacy by fax.

Launch into DrFirst from the available buttons in the Chart Room, Demographics, or from a prescribing Progress Note/Nursing Note/Complete Evaluation. At the top left, click to go to the Prescription Report

From the Prescription Report, use the available dropdown fields filter by Provider, Patient, Drug Type, and Status. A Date Range dropdown may also appear based on your selections. Then click Search.

The report will display all matching results based on your search criteria. Locate the prescription to be canceled, then at the far right, click the  action icon to initiate cancellation:

You’ll see the Cancel Prescription screen appear. Select a reason for cancellation (required) and click Cancel Prescription. Providers also have the ability to free text in any additional reasoning within the Notes section.

You’ll briefly see a green notification at the top left of the screen (within the Prescription Report widget) confirming the prescription (with the serial number listed) was canceled. If there was an error with cancellation, you’ll instead see a red notification informing cancellation was unsuccessful.

Pharmacies enabled for RxCancel are expected to send a response. Cancellation responses will be made available in the Messages Screen. Click the Pharmacy Message icon at the very top right of the screen

Or from the navigation menu at the very top left, click to go to Pharmacy Messages

Providers have the ability to view these and acknowledge them if they choose.

Users have the ability to check prescription status. Within the Prescription Report, set the Status dropdown to “Canceled” and specify a date range, then click to Search.

Your results will display beneath the report.
