Click the button at the top of the Chart Room to access your pending Pharmacy Messages in DrFirst.
If there are no Pharmacy Messages that need your attention, the button will indicate as such.
The Pharmacy Message window in DrFirst looks like this:
A. Filter Pharmacy Messages by provider
B. Filter Pharmacy Messages by type
C. Patient information
D. Medication / Pharmacy Message information
E. Other information related to the Pharmacy Message, including a timestamp of the Pharmacy Message, source pharmacy, provider, patient information, etc.
You can also click the the button in the upper-right of any window in DrFirst. The icon indicates the number of Pharmacy Messages in your queue.
Change Request: RxChange functionality will allow pharmacies to electronically message providers with requests for prescriptions that the pharmacies need to be changed based on insurance coverage issues or patient request. An RxChange request may come through for one of the following reasons:
Cancellation Request: RxCancel functionality allows a provider to send a request to a pharmacy to cancel a prescription that had been sent previously. It also lets the pharmacy respond to the request with an approval or denial and a note indicating how much of the original prescription had already been filled. Any pharmacies that are enabled for RxCancel will receive these requests electronically, otherwise the RxCancel request will be sent to the pharmacy by fax.
Renewals Awaiting: RxFill messages help providers monitor patient medication compliance by providing positive confirmation that a prescription was filled, partially filled or not filled. The RxFill message is originated by the pharmacy. This message notifies the prescriber about the status of a prescription – either new, renewal or resupply.
