How to Review Audit Logs

Overview

ICANotes+ records and stores all user actions performed within the system in audit logs. These logs can be searched to assist in investigations.

Accessing Practice Logs

To access practice logs, go to Settings > Practice Settings > Practice Logs. By default, the current date is displayed. To search for logs from a previous period, adjust the start and end date/time at the top.

You can search logs using the following criteria:

  • Start Date: Select the starting date for your search.
  • Start Time: Choose the starting time for your search.
  • End Date: Select the ending date for your search.
  • End Time: Choose the ending time for your search.
  • Action Category: Select a primary action (e.g., User Authentication, Patient Record, Labs). To search across all categories, select All.
  • Action Subcategory: Based on the selected category, choose a secondary action (e.g., Login Success, Login Failure). To search across all subcategories, select All.
  • Chart ID: Enter a client’s chart ID to search for specific records.
  • Username: Enter a username to search for actions performed by a specific user.

After setting your desired parameters, click Search.

Once you click Search, the actions performed during the selected time period will be displayed, as shown below.

Action Category and Subcategory

You can search for actions within a specific category by selecting an option from the Action Category dropdown. For example, selecting Patient Record will limit the results to actions related to patient records, excluding others.

After selecting a category, the Action Subcategory dropdown will update with related subcategories. For example, selecting Patient Record as the category will show subcategories like Login Success or Login Failure for further refinement.
