This Knowledge Base article is a comprehensive guide covering identifying a patient's services and their account are in ICANotes, including updating demographics, examples of running the collections report type, along with how to mark specific services as in collections
For the patient example below, we start by locating a service charge we want to mark as in collections and then from there creating an adjustment indicating the amount sent to collection. The source is Bad Debt and you will need to enter the dollar amount.
Once you exit by clicking done, you will see the bad debt right off adjustment under all payments for note. The adjustment is important as this will be the indicator for the account to appear in the report for collections.
After this is marked the service as Account in Collections by selecting the box labelled as "Sent to Collections" from a particular service charge within patient accounts.selecting the box labelled as "Sent to Collections" from a particular service charge within patient accounts.
Once you select Done at the upper right-hand corner this takes me back to the Patient Account > Patient Activity Page where a red indicator stating "Account in Collections" appears.
An indication will also appear within the demographics for a patient under the Insurance information tab.
For generating the report you will need to go to Patient Accounts > Reports > Collections Report. From here you will need to enter in dates either for Service, payment, or posted and select detail or summary to generate the report.
