Learn how to create your own custom buttons in ICANotes which will help improve your documentation and efficiency.
1. All over ICANotes Custom Buttons can be created. I am going to create one in a Non Prescriber Progress Note. Click the
button.
2. You will be brought to the My Buttons window to create the custom button.
3. Under the first step, give the button a name. I am naming mine "Oriented".
4. Next go to the variations. It is good to have different variations of the button so your notes will look original. You can use the merge fields to select a term that will insert data from the demographics for your patient.
Once you select the term, then click the button by the variation you want to use.
In the example below, I used "Name" and choosing "He / She" from the merge fields for my variations.
5. Once the variations have been created, go to step three. Decide if you want to highlight the button.
6. Step four is to decide if you want to keep the button private, share with some users, share with some disciplines or share with the entire group.
Example of sharing with select users:
7. Once done with selecting all components to the custom button, click the Continue button in the bottom right of the window.
8. Click on the custom button to insert a variation of the button. This button is now available for all patients in this area of the program and will insert the correct name of the patient and correct pronoun as defined in the demographics.
You are only able to edit the buttons that you created.
1. Go to Settings + Directories > Specific to Individual > Custom Buttons tab.
2. You will be able to identify:
A. What type of custom buttons (where in the program to show)
B. Button name
C. Shared with group
D. Highlighted
E. Context (where it is located in ICANotes)
F. Show All Shared Buttons will bring you to a list of all shared buttons from all users (see step 3)
G. Print the buttons
H. Edit the custom button (see step 4 for an example)
3. When clicking the Show All Shared Buttons button, you will see all custom buttons that were created and shared by all users. In the Created By column, you will see who created the content.
4. When you click Edit by a button, you will be brought to the custom button. Here you can make edits to the content, change the button order, enlarge the edit screen (shows a more detailed version for the custom button, insert options, highlight option, share, and the ability to delete the button. Once finished with changes, click the Finished button to save all changes.
5. If you hover over the button name, you will see what the button will populate.</
