Using the MAR Month View

If your account is enabled for it, you may be taken to the Month View whenever you initially review the MAR for a patient. The Month View can be filtered to show medications by their active status relative to the month/date being viewed.

From the “Show” dropdown at the top right of the MAR Month View, you have the following options to filter by:

-Today’s Active Meds

-This Month’s Active Meds

-All Meds

-Discontinued Meds

-Active Meds on Date

TIP: When selecting a specific date at the top right of the Month MAR view, use of the arrows to navigate backwards or forwards between months is encouraged. Then click to select a date.

Today’s Active Meds will include all meds, whatever schedule, that are active on the selected day (blue = today, red = past/future date) and set to be administered/have been administered.

This Month’s Active Meds will show the potentially larger set of medications that are or will be active any time that month based on the date selected. Any medications set to start later in the month (via the “Start Date” field in Standard Medications) being viewed will also be displayed if the date selected pre-dates the Start Date.

If you change the date being viewed at the top right of the MAR view, then “This Month’s Active Meds” will update to show what medications were active for the month based on that date.

For example, this patient was initially prescribed Ambien 5mg IM QPM on 4/11, then the dosage was increased to Ambien 10mg IM QPM on 5/23. Looking at “This Month’s Active Meds” for 5/23 would show the Ambien 10mg as the active medication. Shift the date selector one day back to 5/22 and both versions of the drug (5mg and 10mg) are showing because both orders were active within month/date being viewed:

All Meds will show all medications ordered for the patient, whether they were active or discontinued.

Discontinued Meds will display medications that are now discontinued or otherwise stopped/locked.

Active Meds on Date will display a list of active medications based on the date entered to the right of the dropdown. This list can include medications which were active on that date, even if they were set to stop on that same date.
