Relative Value Units (RVU) Report

ICANotes offers a workflow for setting Relative Value Units for service codes, then tracking of those units used in the Relative Value Units report, visible to users with RVU Admin access enabled from the Security Center.

Security Administrators can grant RVU admin privileges to individual users via the Security Center by enabling the RVU Admin checkbox:

Once enabled the user should log off, then log back in to ICANotes. A user enabled as an RVU Admin will now see new fields added to ICANotes for the purposes of generating the RVU Report

Navigate to Service/Mod Codes in group level Settings and Directories to see the RVU column added to the Service Code Short List.

This field is editable, meaning you can simply place your cursor into the field and type the Relative Value Unit applicable to the service code. RVU values must be numeric, non-negative, and have a maximum of two (2) decimals.

When a service code with an associated RVU code is used, it will be tracked in the Relative Value Units Report, accessible from the Reports menu:

From within the report you can filter by one/some provider(s) or by all providers (excluding the following disciplines: Auditor, Office, and Administrator), set the date range for finished notes (seven days is the default), and print or export.

Click Refresh to run the report or each time you change your search filters.

1. Filter by one or more providers

2. Set date range to search for finished notes

Here is an example of the RVU Report after filtering for a specific provider:

How to read the report:

  • The provider's name will be listed on the left, then each service code with an associated RVU code will be itemized.
  • The RVU column displays the RVU number assigned to that code.
  • Count Used refers to the number of notes where that service code has been used within the date range and filtering provided.
  • The final column Count*RVU will multiply the RVU by the count used for the final result
