Configure Default Note Settings

Configure Default Note Settings

Overview

On the client’s chart face, multiple note types are available, such as Progress Note, SOAP Note, and Quick Note. You can prioritize the note type you use most frequently for quicker access. For example, if you regularly create Progress Notes, you can configure them to display first.

In addition to note type, you can configure the following items to display by default on the compiled note:

  • Diagnoses

  • Service Codes

  • Risk Factors

  • Medical History

  • eRx Medication List

Step 1: Navigate to Note Settings

To begin, navigate to the page where you can configure default note settings.

Go to Personal Preferences > Note Settings > Note Settings.

Step 2: Set a Default Note for the Chart Face

Next, set the note type that should appear first on the chart face.
  1. Locate the Default Note dropdown.

  2. Select the note type you want to display first on the chart face.

    • All note types enabled for the practice will appear in this dropdown.

Step 3: Configure Default Items for Compiled Notes

Now, choose which additional items should display by default on compiled notes.
  1. Locate the checkboxes under each note type.

  2. Select the checkbox for each item you want displayed by default on the compiled note:

    • Diagnoses

    • Service Codes

    • Risk Factors

    • Medical History

    • eRx Medication List

Step 4: Review and Adjust Before Compiling Notes

Finally, review the selected items and make adjustments if needed before compiling a note.

When you select checkboxes for these items, your default selection appears on the chart face. You can still change these selections before compiling the note if you do not want certain items to display.

In the following example, a Progress Note is shown. The available options may vary depending on the note type.
